First Head of AI for a scaling group: own the roadmap, ship the first wave of agentic systems, raise fluency, and keep judgment human where it must be.
Head of AI
A scaling group with real operations — people, revenue, legacy process — is hiring its first Head of AI. Not a lab role, not a strategy deck role: you will own the move from "we talk about AI" to "our workflows run on it".
What you'll own
- The AI operating roadmap: where agents, automation and models actually change how the business runs — and in what order.
- Shipping: hands-on delivery of the first wave of AI systems with a small team and external partners. You demo working software, not slideware.
- Capability: raising AI fluency across the leadership team and the functions that feel it first (ops, finance, service).
- Judgment: what to build, what to buy, what to kill, and where a human must stay in the loop.
What we need to see
- You have shipped AI systems people actually use — agents, automation, model-backed product. You can name them, show them, and talk about what broke.
- Daily, fluent use of the modern stack: coding agents, automation platforms, APIs, evals. You build with it, not just talk about it.
- You've led through change: real seniority with operators, engineers and a board — and the scar tissue to prove it.
- Concrete numbers when you describe outcomes. Vague claims read as absence of evidence.
The process
Round 1 is a short chat with our AI interviewer — it has read your CV before it says hello. Then a live practical assessment with a facilitator. A human makes every decision, and you get a real answer either way. No ghosting.
No theater. No ghosting. Every applicant gets a real, specific answer.
